food photographer of the yearPosted on 28th May 2015 tossed news
Beautiful photography combined with delicious food is my idea of heaven. So when I found out the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year exhibition was being held at the Mall Galleries I cleared my diary and headed down.
The exhibition had a range of categories, showcasing food in all its forms, from field to plate to dinner party. The competition was judged by Jamie Oliver’s photographer David Loftus, Nigel Atherton, Group Editor, Photography, Time Inc and Michel Roux Jr. The full finalists’ gallery can be seen here but here are Tossed’s top picks (in no specific order)!
1. Roasted Tomatoes. Ian Barrow’s photo of freshly roasted tomatoes in thyme and olive oil won second place in the Food Bloggers category. Amazing food styling by Lindsey Barrow.
2. Sprats, Rialto Market, Venice. Patricia Niven’s photo was second in the Food Sn-apping Category: pictures of food – any time, any place, anywhere – taken on mobile devices. This category is in support of Action Against Hunger and £2 from every entry was donated to the charity.
3. Carrots on a Line. Second in the 10 and Under category, we loved Jasper Callis’ photo of homegrown carrots pegged to a line!
4. Lizzie’s Paella. Highly Commended in the Food Sn-apping category, Peter Cassidy’s photo was our favourite. The colours of the food and table are so beautiful and this paella looks incredible!
