beginners green juicePosted on 24th March 2015 recipes
It can be a little bit daunting, I know, that first green juice. I have long been a fan of the smoothie, but I always favoured the kind smoothie that is more milkshake than juice. Lots of banana and cacao and nuts and all things creamy.
Don’t get me wrong, I love green – I have vegetables with every meal, eat salad whenever possible and even like sprouts. But that’s eating – something about drinking vegetables just didn’t seem right. But it’s OK, really it is! Any issues are purely mental – start with small steps – a little avocado here, a little spinach there. And you’ll be on the super kale juice before you know it.
You can mix any combo of greens and fruit with water or nut milk – if you balance the greens out with something sweeter then you should be fine.
Here is my current favourite – a large handful of spinach, 1 banana (I like to keep sliced banana in the freezer as it makes smoothies super creamy and also makes great healthy ice cream (but that’s another post which can be found here), 1 pear, a few cashews and coconut milk. The sweetness of the fruit will mean you don’t even notice the spinach. I promise!
And of course, if you don’t have a blender or don’t fancy washing up, you can always nip to your local Tossed and get us to do the hard work for you 😉
